In 1977 five animal lovers, each pitching in $5, formed the Floyd County Animal Rescue League. We are a nonprofit animal welfare organization dedicated to helping the companion animals of Floyd County, Indiana.
FCARL raised and contributed more than a third of the cost of the New Albany Animal Shelter which was opened in 2000 and we have an office base there. We continue to work with the Shelter and provide volunteers and financial support for needs such as vaccinations, testing supplies, medications, spay/neuter surgeries, foster & breed rescue assistance as well as adoption support.
FCARL helps reduce the number of unwanted and homeless animals by providing spay and neuter vouchers for companion animals of Floyd County. Medical vouchers are also available to Floyd County residents to help assist in covering urgent veterinary visits.
Free microchipping clinics are held throughout the year to get companion animals microchipped. Veterans can get their companion animals microchipped for free all year round.
We rely heavily on donations to fund our programs. All donations are tax-deductible.
Volunteers are the backbone of our organization and we could not function without them.
The New Albany Animal Shelter is a public facility budgeted for and operated by the City of New Albany. FCARL is happy to provide volunteers and financial assistance in support of this important work. Animal Control functions as required by city and county laws and regulations.
FCARL is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit.
